Organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Sustainability (CENTS) and
the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) in collaboration with UTAR’s
MoU partner Private Pension Administrator Malaysia (PPA), the final round of
the Retirement Planning Competition 2022 took place on 5 December 2022. A
total of five teams were present to pitch their ideas.
Present at the competition were CEO of PPA Hussaini Hussin, FAM Dean Dr
Sia Bee Chuan and the panel of judges, namely Principal Asset Management
Berhad Retirement Service Head Shirley Foo Yark Ley, Adjunct Prof of
Taylor’s University and Manager of AKPK Dr Desmond Chong, Non-Independent
Non-Executive Director of Silverlake Axis Ltd Chee Hin Kooi, Corporate
Engagement and Management Manager of PPA Samantha Loh and CENTS Chairperson
Dr Falahat Nejadmahani.
The competition aimed to instil and develop financial literacy and
interest in investment among participants. It also aimed to bring awareness
of the importance of financial planning as well as the understanding of the
different stages of life cycle, unit trust performance measures and future
retirement planning to the participants.

The competition was supported and sponsored by Private Retirement Scheme
Provider— Principal Asset Management Bhd. The prizes were given in the form
of PRS units. The Champion team walked away with RM500 PRS unit (each
member) while the first and the second runner-up teams walked away with
RM300 and RM200 PRS units (each member) respectively. The two finalists team
took home RM100 PRS units each. The total prizes were RM6,000 worth of PRS
units.
