Dato’ Dr Sak Cheng Lum, UTAR Council Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Ting
Chew Peh, UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Council member Datuk
Lim Si Cheng and Education Foundation Secretary Ong Whee Tiong. Also present

In the strategic plan, the
educational goal is enhanced to include the education of youths who will be
forward-thinking, ethical and global professionals and entrepreneurs who
engage in lifelong learning and contribute to society with greater impact.
Several professional development initiatives are also in place to inculcate
lifelong learning and growth mindset among UTAR staff and students.
Tan Sri Sak
thanking stakeholders, philanthropists, donors and sponsors for supporting
UTAR
At the launching ceremony, Tan Sri
Sak said, “UTAR has been successful and progressive all these years thanks
to the good strategies adopted as well as the supportive team of staff,
students and stakeholders who are committed to helping the university
achieve its goals and its vision. Having good teamwork and commitment is an
integral aspect of success. The strategic plan is the road that opens the
path and paves the way leading to the future. UTAR’s 10-year strategy
essentially provides a framework for all staff to make daily operational
decisions and these decisions and their related processes must all move the
university in the same direction. The strategic plan provides a vision of
the future, confirms the purpose and enhances the values of the university.”
Tan Sri Ting
wishing UTAR continuous success
In his speech, Tan Sri Ting
shared, “Today we witness another milestone achievement of UTAR as we unveil
our next 10-year strategy for 2023-2032. The launch of this strategic plan
has shown the growth and progress the University has achieved over the
years, and all this is possible thanks to the dedication of the university
management, faculty and staff, students, and alumni, who have supported and
believed in UTAR. I would also like to thank the UTAR Education Foundation
Board of Trustees and members of the UTAR Council for their leadership,
guidance and advice in steering the University to the path of greater
success.”
Prof Dato’ Ewe
emphasising the importance of building UTAR as a global University of
educational excellence with a transformative societal impact
Prof Dato’ Ewe mentioned, “As an
educational institution, it is important that we keep progressing,
refreshing and reaffirming our vision, our aims and our role in order to
remain sustainable and relevant globally. The University is like a compass
that guides students towards the right direction and path in life; so, it is
very important that we do not lose focus. The last 20 year’s strategic plan
has brought UTAR to greater heights of achievements, and it has helped the
University see through one of the greatest global challenges of the century-
the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to the next 10 years as we work
together under this new strategic plan that will guide us into the future.
UTAR will continue to rise above the challenges and progress with the
rapidly changing world to build a greater university and contribute to
nation-building. Thank you again everyone for all your assistance and for
making UTAR your university of choice.”
The launching ceremony was
followed by a video presentation montage and presentation of the strategic
plan book.
