UTAR and UTHM sign MoU to explore more collaboration opportunities

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between UTAR and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on 24 January 2022 at Sungai Long Campus.

Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and UTHM Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Ts Dr Wahid bin Razzaly, while witnessing the signing were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and UTHM Faculty of Technology Management and Business Dean Prof Dr Wan Fauziah Wan Fauzi.

Prof Ewe highlighted the importance of building partnership and said, “We are indeed privileged and honoured to be working together with UTHM, an established university that strives to enhance and strengthen its internationalisation linkage and has taken various initiatives to complement its educational excellence.” “Under this MoU, both UTAR and UTHM will initiate joint projects involving international collaborative research and share expertise as well as jointly develop research in particular areas. I believe that joint collaborative research has the capabilities to exchange ideas across discipline to maximise the impact of the research," he added.

Prof Wahid gave a brief introduction of UTHM and discussed possible ways that both institutions can collaborate. He said, “We are grateful and honoured to be here today. We feel privileged to be able to work closely with UTAR and hope the partnership between UTAR and UTHM could support each other to generate new ideas and collaborative projects where both parties could share the positive results and benefits.”

With the signing of this MoU, UTAR and UTHM will officially begin their strategic partnership to initiate joint projects involving international collaborative research, share expertise and joint development of research, and facilitate academic development exchanges between both parties in the aspect of teaching, seminar, conferences and workshops. Aside from that, both parties have agreed to facilitate study visits and student exchanges to enhance students learning experience and facilitate industrial placement for both UTAR and UTHM students.

Also present at the MoU signing ceremony were UTHM Faculty of Technology Management and Business Head Assoc Prof Sr Dr Abdul Jalil bin Omar, UTHM Faculty of Technology Management and Business Coordinator Assoc Prof Dr Haryati binti Shafii, UTHM Faculty of Technology Management and Business member Ts Dr Mohd Hilmi Izwan bin Abdul Rahim, UTAR R&D and Commercialisation Vice President Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, UTAR Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Dean Ir Prof Dr Ng Choon Aun, FEGT Department of Construction Management Head Dr Kwan Wai Hoe, Division of Community and International Networking (DCInterNet) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and UTAR staff.

The signing ceremony ended with a souvenir exchange between Prof Ewe and Prof Wahid, followed by a group photography session.
