Basketball teams make UTAR proud in IPG TARUC 3-on-3 Competition

On 25 June 2022, two basketball teams from UTAR named UTAR 1 and UTAR 2, participated in the IPG TAR UC 3 on 3 Competition, a basketball tournament jointly organised by IPG Malaysia (KL) and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC), Setapak Campus. The competition’s main focus was 3-on-3 basketball rules and court ruling. It saw 56 teams from various universities taking part in the competition, which was held at Basketball TARUC, Setapak.

The tournament served as a platform for the UTAR teams to train and showcase their skills, as they had not participated in any tournaments for the last two years. The two UTAR teams were split into four members each. Team UTAR 1 was unfortunately eliminated in the last 24, missing out by only two points. Team UTAR 2, however, managed to emerge as 2nd runner-up, winning a total of RM588, 20% of which was donated to the UTAR Education Foundation to help needy students.

Overall, the tournament was a good opportunity for the students to gain experience and exposure. It also served as a motivation for them to train harder for the upcoming University Basketball League (UBL). UTAR is proud of the participating teams, as they performed well and gave their all.
