Prof Ewe said, “Collaborations between industry experts and academics are crucial for expanding knowledge and research as well as for developing a trained workforce for the economy. For technology to innovate and expand, industry and academic cooperation are essential.”

“We hope to further our collaboration with INTCO Malaysia through the exchange of ideas and facilities, attachment and mutual visits by staff members to pursue research and curriculum development, and participation in seminars, conferences and workshops that are relevant to the industry,” he added.

Andy Zhang gave a brief introduction about INTCO Malaysia and said, “Polystyrene waste can be seen everywhere in our daily life. Originally, these white foam plastics were difficult to degrade and recycle. Commonly, they were thrown into the curbside garbage cans and then sent to landfills or burned. However, INTCO recycles the polystyrene waste and makes it into a new product like photo frames.”

He emphasised, “We are grateful and honoured to be here today. We feel privileged to be able to work closely with UTAR and hope the partnership between UTAR and INTCO Malaysia could support each other to generate new ideas and collaborative projects where both parties could share the positive results and benefits. We look forward to unlocking synergies through this collaboration opportunity to develop homegrown talents together with UTAR.”
