Prof Ewe expressed his thanks on behalf of UTAR Hospital and said, “Red Mountain Sun Yin Loong White Coffee has donated to us 600 packs of white coffee to raise funds for UTAR Hospital. UTAR Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital that will provide affordable and quality medical services to the public, and clinical training to MBBS, TCM and Health Science students. On 7 April 2022, the T&CM Centre began its operation and it currently offers services in TCM Internal Medicine; Acupuncture & Moxibustion; Tuina; Gua Sha; and Cupping, as well as counselling services. We are looking forward to the coming Western Medicine, additional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, and Traditional Malay Medicine services as the hospital progress further. Under the Faculty of Science, we offer the dietetics programme, and perhaps we can even establish a collaboration with Red Mountain Sun Yin Loong White Coffee on researching into enhancing the coffee quality and other aspects of coffee.”
Meanwhile, Tan spoke a little of Ipoh old town’s history, which was once a famous tin city. He also mentioned, “The current generation seems to be not very interested in the heritage, cultures and histories of the old neighbourhood. So how do we make Ipoh a lively place and how can we position Ipoh better? Ipoh is actually located in a strategic geologic location, but how can we make use of its uniqueness? I believe educational institutions can play a role to encourage the young people into getting involved in reviving the old neighbourhood, which will also bring about efforts to preserve its heritage and cultures.”
Wong later said, “Donating is an act of kindness and we are honoured to be able to make this donation to UTAR Hospital. My mother has taught me and my siblings, since we were children, that we should do good deeds to the best of our abilities, and that doing good things for the community is our responsibility as young people. Red Mountain Sun Yin Loong White Coffee is an established brand in Ipoh. I inherited the family business and it is now my responsibility to grow the business further, and we are looking into innovating the business and preserving the good name of the business as well as honouring the efforts of our ancestors.” He also thanked UTAR for providing him a chance to share about the company and its future prospects.
The event ended with a tour around the T&CM Centre, led by Prof Choong.
