Tertiary education is instrumental in fostering growth and reducing poverty, as well as driving economic competitiveness to contribute to social and economic development. The generous donation from BMMB is greatly appreciated. This donation would allow our needy students to continue their education at the university. I hope it will also improve their family’s livelihood when they graduate and work.

He hopes the financial aid will help the recipients to become role models for the future generation as they contribute towards the betterment of society.

Kow expressing her gratitude for choosing her as one of the bursary recipients

Advertising student, Kow said, before she received the financial aid from BMMB, she had to work part-time jobs to help lessen her family’s financial burden as her parents were getting old. She expressed her gratitude, “This financial aid has helped lessen my family’s financial burden. Thanks to this financial aid, my parents no longer need to be worried about my living expenses during my stay in Kampar.”

Chan extending her gratitude to both UTAR and BMMB

Accounting student Chan said, “My father was diagnosed with stroke when I was in Standard Five. He is now considered a disabled person. Since he needs a wheelchair to move around, my mother decided to stop working to look after my father. My family has been surviving only with the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) financial aid. After receiving this bursary, our financial burden was lightened. I am very much grateful for this opportunity. The bursary really means a lot and it took the pressure off of my parents. I promise I will put in my best effort to excel in my studies.”
