kindness and support to UTAR students, Prof Choong said, “On behalf of UTAR
President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat, UTAR management and community, I would
like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to BMMB for their generous
contribution and continuous support to UTAR. From 2018 until 2021, more than
134 UTAR students have received more than RM2.6million in financial
assistance through the Jinbodhi Bursary Award.
We are honoured to witness another disbursement of RM350,000 to UTAR
students in need. We truly appreciate your generosity towards our university
students.”
He added, “Students in need of financial
assistance should not be denied a good education. Tertiary education is
instrumental in fostering growth and reducing poverty, as well as driving
economic competitiveness to contribute to social and economic development.
The generous donation from BMMB is greatly appreciated. This donation would
allow our needy students to continue their education at the university. I
hope it will also improve their family’s livelihood when they graduate and
work.
According to Teacher Ling Shan, BMMB will continue
to support and provide students with opportunities to apply for the bursary
In his speech, Teacher Ling Shan expressed his
gratitude to be part of this UTAR JinBodhi Bursary sponsorship. He said,
“BMMB will continue to support and provide students with opportunities to
apply for the bursary.” He hopes the sponsorship would help the recipients
to achieve their goals and inspire them to give back to society.
Teacher Ling Shan said these scholarships will not
only provide the students with financial assistance but also allow them to
be brave in chasing as well as pursuing their dreams. He hopes the financial
aid will help the recipients to become role models for the future generation
as they contribute towards the betterment of society.
A sharing session was held in which the existing
recipients shared their gratitude messages and how the bursary had brought
relief to their respective families.
Kow expressing her gratitude for choosing her as
one of the bursary recipients
Advertising student,
Kow said, before she received the financial aid from BMMB, she had to work
part-time jobs to help lessen her family’s financial burden as her parents
were getting old. She expressed her gratitude, “This financial aid has
helped lessen my family’s financial burden. Thanks to this financial aid, my
parents no longer need to be worried about my living expenses during my stay
in Kampar.”
Chan extending her gratitude to both UTAR and BMMB
Accounting student Chan said, “My father was
diagnosed with stroke when I was in Standard Five. He is now considered a
disabled person. Since he needs a wheelchair to move around, my mother
decided to stop working to look after my father. My family has been
surviving only with the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) financial aid.
After receiving this bursary, our financial burden was lightened. I am very
much grateful for this opportunity. The bursary really means a lot and it
took the pressure off of my parents. I promise I will put in my best effort
to excel in my studies.”
