UTAR visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia on 14 June 2022. UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat led the visit along with UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Institute of Chinese Studies Dean Assoc Prof Chong Siou Wei, Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and Division of Programme Promotion Director Lee Choy Fong.

They were cordially received by Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia Counsellor Zhao Changtao, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia Attachѐ Zhang Tian and staff from the Embassy.

The visit aimed to introduce UTAR and highlight its international collaborations with universities and corporates in China. It also aimed to update the application progress of the Confucius Institute with Dezhou University, China. Besides, the visit also saw both parties discussing potential collaborations, such as the set-up of Chinese Student Association at UTAR and the coordination of innovation and entrepreneurship competition for the students. They also discussed possible cooperation in the future like conducting student internships at the Embassy.
