In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team of MR.DIY distributed free hygiene kits to UTAR students at the UTAR Multipurpose Hall (MPH) of Sungai Long Campus on 22 and 23 February 2022.
The hygiene kits were distributed over the two-day period. Each hygiene kit consisted of two Antigen Rapid Test Kits, 100 pieces of face masks and 1 bottle of hand sanitiser.

Mr Henry Woon, Vice President of MR D.I.Y Human Resource Management Department was present to meet the students and staff. He said that, “UTAR is the first educational institution to benefit from MR. DIY’s CSR Hygiene Kit programme. We prepared a total of 10,000 hygiene kits to distribute over these two days. We will also be visiting the Kampar Campus in March. We are also considering to provide to other educational institutions for our CSR project.”
He added, “It is our corporate social responsibility focus to assist students who may not be able to afford COVID-19 test kits. Providing these hygiene kits is to encourage students to perform self-testing so that they can be reassured that they are COVID-19 free before going to class.”

UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. D.I.Y. Group (M) Bhd for the kind contribution and for helping the students to ensure their safety and health on campus. He also applauded Mr. D.I.Y. Group for their support in helping the University in its effort to make the campus a safe place for students to study. He said that the University will continue to prioritise the safety and protection of students through the safety and precautionary measures taken and the strict SOPs implemented. He also hoped that students will do their part to abide by the SOPs.
UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies, Science Stream students Chan Wei Han and Charles Lee Ung Kiet expressed their gratitude to Mr. D.I.Y. for their thoughtful contribution and thanked them for taking care of the safety of students. They mentioned, “We are so happy to receive this hygiene kit. For us students, the antigen test kits and masks are quite pricey and we find it difficult to purchase them frequently. It is important for us to do self-tests regularly to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to know that we are alright.”
UTAR thanks MR. D.I.Y. Group and MR D.I.Y Trading Sdn Bhd for their kind contribution to the students and their efforts to promote a safe learning environment in the University for the students.
