A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony
between UTAR and Universitas Medika Suherman (UMS), Indonesia was held via
Zoom on 17 February 2022.
The MoU was pre-signed by UTAR President Ir
Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and UMS President Dr Triseu Setianingsih. The witnesses
were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development
Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and UMS Vice Rector of Student Achievement Yana
Setiawan.

Under the MoU, UTAR and UMS will work together
to initiate collaborative research and share expertise and joint development
of research. Apart from that, both parties will facilitate the exchange of
ideas and facilities, staff attachment, and mutual visits by faculty members
to pursue research as well as facilitate students’ industrial attachment.
Prof Ewe said, “The collaboration of this MoU
marks the start of more meaningful engagement and impactful collaboration
that will propel our university to a greater height. I look forward to
seeing our collaboration grow and provide excellent results in the near
future. UTAR is indeed pleased with this collaboration that will enhance the
learning experience of our students through the industrial placement and
student mobility programme. We also welcome UMS students to pursue their
internship at UTAR Hospital when it is ready.”
“In this era, every industry seeks innovation
to provide quality to human lives, therefore it is crucial for this
collaboration to make way to a better educational system.
In life, if you want to move fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go
together,” Dr Triseu stated, adding that by working together, both
educational institutions will be able to pursue growth and bring good to
many people.

Dr Te during his talk
The ceremony was followed by a talk
presented by Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) Centre Director
Assoc Prof Dr Te Kian Keong. Dr Te’s talk was
titled “Chinese Medicine for
COVID-19 Patients.”
