A group of delegates from Oppstar Technology Sdn
Bhd paid a visit to UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 7 March 2022. The delegates
consisted of Oppstar Technology Sdn Bhd Executive Director/CTO Cheah Hun
Wah, Oppstar Technology Sdn Bhd Executive Director/CEO Ng Meng Thai and
Oppstar Technology Sdn Bhd Vice President/CFO Chin Fung Wei.
They were welcomed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dr
Ewe Hong Tat, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES)
Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, LKC FES Deputy Dean for Student
Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lee Kim Yee, LKC FES

Ir Dr Teh Peh Chiong, and FEGT lecturers Ir Dr Loh Siu Hong and Assoc Prof
Ir Dr Yeap Kim Ho.
The meeting commenced with the presentation of
UTAR corporate video to enhance the delegates’ understanding of the overall
development of the University. Cheah gave an introduction about Oppstar,
while Ng explained the key focus areas of the company. Prof Ewe said that he
believes there are still plenty of areas in which UTAR and Oppstar can work
together and he looks forward to discussing them further on.
An in-depth discussion was carried out between the
two parties, which promoted the exchange of information. Among the possible
areas of collaboration discussed were IC design alliance strategy
partnership, Work-Based Learning Programme, sharing of expertise and joint
development of research, staff and student exchanges, academic development
exchanges between both parties, industrial study visit, industrial
placement, edupreneur and furthermore.
The meeting ended with the signing of a memorandum
of agreement (MoA) and a memorandum of understanding (MoU), followed by a
souvenir exchange.
