UTAR visits UTHM to strengthen collaboration

A group of delegates from UTAR paid a visit to Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on 15 March 2022.

The objectives of the visit were to discuss joint research activities, publication and commercialisation of products collaboration between the two institutions, explore opportunities for student exchange and industrial training, and visit the learning and teaching facilities provided by UTHM to students.

The UTAR delegates included Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abdul Rahman, Division of Strategy and Performance Measurement Director Prof Dr Zuraidah binti Abd Manaf, Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research Director Assoc Prof Dr Yong Thian Khok, Department of Consultancy and Commercialisation Manager Hamrizal bin Haris, and Unovate Centre Head Dr Lee Sheng Chyan. 

Welcoming them on behalf of UTHM were Faculty of Technology Management and Business Dean Prof Dr Wan Fauziah binti Wan Fauzi, Research Management Centre (RMC) Director Prof Madya Dr Ir Ts Dr Shahiron bin Shahidan, Deputy Deans and lecturers from Faculty of Technology Management and Business, Prof Madya Dr Phang Chan from the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST), Dr Nadirul Hasraf Mat Nayan from the Industry Community Relations Centre (ICRC), and two lecturers from the  Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment.

During the meeting, the two sides held further discussions after agreeing to collaborate in potential areas as stipulated in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) which was signed this January. The three-hour discussion started with a speech by Prof Wan Fauziah and Prof Faidz, followed by an information-sharing session between both representatives.

Moreover, a facility tour via electric bus was conducted to visit UTHM campus areas such as Computer and Geotech Laboratory, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment, RMC, several research laboratories and the virtual learning centre.
