In Prof Ewe’s
speech, he said, “Rapid technological change and digitalisation transform
the way we live and the things we use. The capacity to innovate and create
value through new ideas, products, services and business models will be
critical for maintaining our competitiveness in the current landscape and
enabling us to push for more sustainable solutions. The Top Glove
Engineering Lab will serve as a lab where students can learn to execute
practical applications of technologies, expand their knowledge and skills
and prepare them for real-world applications. I hope we can work together to
lift both UTAR and Top Glove to even greater heights. I am confident that as
we continue to innovate and create new value, we will be able to strengthen
Malaysia’s competitiveness in the future global economy.”
John Sew said,
“Top Glove believes automation and digitalisation are the way to ensure our
business flourish, remain competitive and stay relevant. We can progress
even further into advanced analytics and predictive engines to further boost
and augment our capabilities. Top Glove views engineering as a very
important core of our business, thus came the commitment from the management
to contribute to society through collaborations and partnerships in various
education communities to create bigger awareness in expanding knowledge on
the engineering fields that will assist various industries and make Malaysia
a better place for industries.
The equipped engineering lab makes the learning journey
better and more effective for UTAR students.
We are looking forward to witnessing great talents
being developed from UTAR and we trust that this partnership will continue
to soar in the years to come.”
Prior to this,
Top Glove has provided an external grant and scholarship amounting to
RM78,448 for a project titled “Development of polyethylene film”. This
support will enable UTAR to produce highly competent researchers and
engineers who will bring economic and social improvements to the country
through the use of cutting-edge technologies in the field of engineering.
