Project committee members, student volunteers and staff getting ready to
distribute the bubur lambuk
UTAR students and staff celebrated the spirit of charity and tradition in
the month of Ramadan by distributing 300 packs of
bubur lambuk to the UTAR community and the public.
The project was a collaboration between UTAR IMechE Student Chapter and
UTAR Department of Student Affairs (DSA). The idea was first initiated by
Chairperson of IMechE Student Chapter Er Ji Siang and DSA staff
Norazilah Adnan.
The distribution of bubur lambuk,
which is a local tradition during the fasting month of Ramadan, took place
at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 25 April 2022. Among the recipients were
staff, students, international students and the public.
Er expressed his gratitude to the committee, student volunteers and DSA
staff for contributing their time, energy and resources to distribute the
bubur lambuk to every floor of the
campus. He also thanked IMechE Student Chapter Advisor Dr Rubina Bahar,
IMechE Student Chapter Co-Advisor Lee Sze Shin and DSA Head Loh Nyuk Leung
for their support and encouragement.
Among the volunteers were UTAR students namely Lim Zhi Seng, Calista Ng
Hue Thung, Mercedes Chan Simh Peh, Hwong Yu Yi, Wong Sie Cheng, Sow Qian
Hui, Pang Zhong Zheng, and also DSA staff namely Norazilah Adnan, Nuraini
Ibrahim and Intan Azfar Kamaruzaman.
The local delicacy bubur lambuk
is a savoury rice porridge cooked with a medley of herbs, spices and meat.
It is mainly served during the Ramadan month.
