Prof Dato’ Ewe praising the
Department of Nursing
Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “Nurses are the pillar of
Malaysia’s healthcare system since they provide us with the care that allows
us to live long, healthy lives.
In today’s world, there is a demand for quality, caring, highly
knowledgeable and clinically competent nurses due to rapid technological
development. I believe that the knowledge and power to help heal others is
what keeps all of you going in these challenging times.”
Prof Cheong delivering his speech
Prof Cheong said, in his opening speech, “This
ceremony is important to celebrate an important milestone for the
department. We started with only four academicians, and over the years, the
department has grown exponentially as more students and staff joined the
department. This would not have been possible without the support of UTAR
and the other departments. Hence, I would like to take this opportunity to
thank all those who have contributed to the success of the Bachelor of
Nursing programme. I hope we can work together again in the future to
develop competent nurses to fulfil the global demand of the healthcare
system.”
The anniversary celebration continued with more
speeches from Year Four Nursing student Yee Jia Jia and UTAR Department of
Nursing alumna Alvina Joan Gregory. Both of them expressed their gratitude
to the Nursing Department and UTAR for providing students with quality
education which allowed a lot of graduates from the department to become
successful nurses. A video presentation of several other alumni was then
shown, all of whom expressed their thanks and congratulated the Department
of Nursing.
