The Next Top Brain 2022 Quiz Competition by CFS

UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus organised “The Next Top Brain 2022 Quiz” on 14 September 2022 from 2pm to 4pm online. The participation was overwhelming with a total of 72 participants registering for the event.

The goal of the competition was to expose students to general knowledge and information in the field of Business, Economics, Finance and Accounting, enhance their learning in a competitive manner, and provide opportunities for students to build their confidence and test their analytical skills in these fields. The participants were required to answer questions covering the fields of Business, Economics, Finance and Accounting.

The list of winners is as follows:

Champion                           : Wong Kie Qi (Foundation in Arts)
1st Runner-up                    : Hoi Xin Yue (Foundation in Arts)
2nd Runner-up                 : Lim Aun Chir (Foundation in Arts)
Consolation 1                  : Tai Yi Ying (Foundation in Arts)
Consolation 2                  : Leong Wye Kitt (Foundation in Arts)

The champion of the competition walked away with RM100 TNG e-Wallet reload pin, a certificate, a book and a goodie bag from Colgate Palmolive; the first-runner up walked away with RM70 TNG e-Wallet reload pin, a certificate, a book and a goodie bag from Colgate Palmolive, and the second-runner up walked away with RM50 TNG e-Wallet reload pin, a certificate, a book and a goodie bag from Colgate Palmolive. Consolation prizes were also prepared for the participants. Each winner walked away with RM20 TNG e-Wallet reload pin, a certificate and a book.
Organising Committee Chairperson Hazel Lim Hui Ling mentioned that the committee was glad to see the participation of both Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Science students. Their performance during the competition was inspiring because the quiz competition was able to evaluate the knowledge of the participants within academics as well as beyond academics. In fact, it can also support a growth mindset and foster the attitude to life-long learning.

The competition ended with a prize-giving ceremony led by the Director of CFS Kampar Campus, Ts Tan Lee Siew and a group photography session. Based on the feedback received, the participants commented that the competition was memorable and fun as it helped them to grow their knowledge and stimulate critical thinking skills.
