UTAR students receive tablets under PerantiSiswa programme

Around 1,800 eligible students from UTAR Kampar Campus and 1,200 students from Sungai Long Campus received their tablets under the 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘚𝘪𝘴𝘸𝘢 𝘒𝘦𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘢 initiative by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM). The students were all happy to receive the tablets and the tablets were distributed at Kampar Campus on 10 November 2022 and Sungai Long Campus on 12 November 2022.

The 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘚𝘪𝘴𝘸𝘢 𝘒𝘦𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘢 is an initiative that provides devices to students of higher education institutions who are in the B40 group to ensure there is no interruption in their studies. The device is given in the form of a tablet to ensure that students’ learning process is maintained.

The main objective of 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘚𝘪𝘴𝘸𝘢 𝘒𝘦𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘢 is to help higher education students from B40 families to have digital access to study at the University through the provision of tablet devices. The 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘚𝘪𝘴𝘸𝘢 𝘒𝘦𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘢 initiative is one of the government’s efforts to bridge the digital divide by improving the affordability of the device, especially for B40 students.

It is an initiative under Budget 2022 led by the (K-KOMM) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).

Year One Financial Economics student, Noor Aimah binti Ibrahim said, “Thank you to K-KOMM for choosing me as one of the recipients. I’m truly grateful. The tablet would be very helpful for me in my studies.”

Year Two Banking and Finance student Fock Weng Lok said, “I am very thankful to K-KOMM for initiating such a great programme for students from the B40 family. I will share this tablet with my coursemates to do revision and share notes in the classroom.”

Banking and Finance student S. Mercy Bhavatharani said, “I feel grateful for this amazing opportunity. This tablet will be a great help for me in completing my assignments. Thank you.”
