CEE English Language Camp for SMK Menglembu
The Centre for Extension Education (CEE) organised an English Language Camp for 70 Form Six students in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Menglembu, Ipoh, Perak on 21 September 2022 to promote the importance of the English language in a fun and interactive way.
The camp kicked off with an introduction to UTAR’s programmes and courses and CEE’s programmes by Division of Programme Promotion Tham Yeong Shyue and CEE English Unit Head P. Mohanambikay.
CEE English instructor Beh Heng Jian then conducted a short English grammar lesson on the subject-verb agreement which is a crucial structural element that has a direct impact on a person’s ability to engage in appropriate and effective communication.
A game session known as English Escapade was also held to encourage students to use English and solve problems through teamwork and critical thinking. Students experienced a myriad of activities hosted by the CEE instructors and UTAR student helpers.
The games were not only riddled with fun-inducing segments but they also instilled a satisfying sense of challenge as the students had to look for clues to solve the puzzle since the theme of the English Escapade revolved around being a detective solving a case of homicide. “It was a delightful session for us as we were able to both have fun and learn English at the same time,” said one of the students who took part in the camp.
SMK Menglembu Form Six Senior Assistant Jamalludin B. Abd Lah said, “Thanks to UTAR for organising such a fun and interesting camp that benefitted the students.” After the camp, a prize-giving ceremony and a group photography session took place.
