A total of 2 staff and 7 students from the UTAR Department of Physiotherapy, M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, provided physiotherapy services to the Johor Cricket Team during the Sukan Malaysia XX MSN (SUKMA) 2022, which was held between 16 to 24 September 2022 at the UKM Oval and Selangor Turf Club Cricket Ground.

The collaboration between UTAR and the Johor Cricket Council kicked-off after the memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year. One of the aims of the MoU is to provide support physiotherapy services to enhance the Johor Cricket Team performance while minimising injury to the players.

During the Cricket tournament, the physiotherapy services provided include physical preparation of the players before the tournament, monitoring of the players’ well-being, promoting recovery, and managing injuries throughout the tournament.

The physiotherapy team was led by the head of department, En Muhammad Noh Zulfikri, assisted by Pn Nurul Husna, and physiotherapy students - Choong Su Yan, Choong Jia En, Yap Kar Men, Tan Zhen Xin, Choong Pui Kuan, Kwek Oi Yen, and Khor Ji Leam.
