A graduation ceremony, jointly organised by Unovate Centre and EDM Resources Group Sdn Bhd, was held on 11 October 2022 via Zoom. The ceremony was held to reward the participants who have successfully completed the “Unovate Uni-entrepreneur Program x EDM Coaching Programme” and the winners of the “UTAR E-Marketplace x EDM E-Commerce Challenge (UEEEC)”.

Unovate Centre Head Dr Lee Sheng Chyan, commented, “It is our honour to be able to collaborate with EDM for this training. Unovate Centre has always aimed to cultivate entrepreneurship skills and spirit among students, but we understand that process will be challenging, and therefore, the training provided by EDM was very much helpful and beneficial to our participants. Times are changing, and we can no longer apply past methods on current entrepreneurship processes, therefore, the guidance and training by EDM are indeed timely. We need to continue adapting to changes and improving our methods to say ahead in the game.”

Dr Lee added, “I also thank the students and participants for making time to participate in this training programme. The responses we received were very positive, and I would like to applaud all of you for making effort to acquire information and hone your entrepreneurship skills, while balancing time for your studies. Indeed, this ceremony would not be possible without your participation, and therefore, this ceremony is also dedicated to all of you. I hope you will inspire other students to engage in entrepreneurship. I also hope more students will appreciate this opportunity available at Unovate Centre and take the initiative to expand their entrepreneurship skills. Remember, in entrepreneurship, there is no failure as long as you are willing to work hard to achieve success ahead.”

Founder and Managing Director of EDM Resources Group, Datuk Seri Edmund Heng, advised, “This is a very good opportunity for individuals who are interested in entrepreneurship. Likewise, as Dr Lee said, times are different and methods are changing. As an entrepreneur, we understand the importance of helping other entrepreneurs and guiding them to build better communication and teamwork skills. It is also important to have an important mindset. Entrepreneurship is not just about earning profits, but also experiencing the whole process, learning and improving, and finding ways to benefit the society.”

Recorded videos of students sharing testimonies and experiences were also played. The event then proceeded with the announcing and sharing video of the top three winners, namely Team Stay-health30, Team V-U$, and 火精灵. Seven special awards were also given to students with full attendance from the training and they each received a UTAR keychain and a special gift from EDM.

The Unovate Uni-entrepreneur Program x EDM Coaching Programme is a programme established in collaboration with EDM Group to conduct practical digital marketing training and coaching session. It is also in line with the Unipreneur STEP Cultivation Programme. The objectives of the programme are to improve the utilisation of the UTAR E-Marketplace and ECFC; grow the Unipreneur community through practical digital marketing training and improve entrepreneurship and digital marketing skills in terms of mindset, skillset and toolset.

Meanwhile, the UTAR E-Marketplace x EDM E-Commerce Challenge (UEEEC), is a competition jointly organised by Unovate Centre and EDM, and sponsored by EDM. The competition provides a platform for students to practise their entrepreneurship and digital marketing skills in terms of mindset, skillset and toolset; grow the Unipreneur community through group forming and e-commerce challenge; and improve the awareness and utilisation of the UTAR E-Marketplace and ECFC.
