Tripartite MoU between UTAR, Agilepoint Inc and RMAICT Sdn Bhd

An inaugural tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to formalise partnerships between UTAR, Agilepoint Inc and RMAICT Sdn Bhd at Kampar Campus on 2 September 2022.

Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Agilepoint Inc Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jesse Shiah and RMAICT Sdn Bhd Founder and Director Joseph Tiong Ing Tze. The signing was witnessed by UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, Agilepoint Inc Head of Regional Business Development Loo Chee Keong and RMAICT Sdn Bhd Project Director Adriano Tang Chin Hoong.

Also present at the signing ceremony were guests from Agilepoint Inc, namely Senior Solution Consultant Yong Yoong Seng and Solution Consultant Clarence Ngieng Hock Hing; guests from RMAICT Sdn Bhd, namely Head of Solutions Yip Chok Meng, Senior Tech Consultant Lim Kok Siang, Business Development Manager Adeline Tan Chai Fang, Senior Developer Ong Bee San and System Developer Teoh Chia Wen.

Guests from UTAR included Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Liew Soung Yue, FICT Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Dr Choo Peng Yin and Deputy Director of Division of Community and International Networking Dr Chen, I-Chi.

Welcoming Agilepoint Inc and RMAICT Sdn Bhd into UTAR’s MoU fraternity which spanned across education institutions as well as industry players based locally and internationally, Prof Ewe mentioned that the collaborative initiatives explored through the MoU will be mutually beneficial to all the parties involved.

He explained, “The expertise from Agilepoint Inc and RMAICT Sdn Bhd is in line with our programmes under Faculty of Information and Communication Technology which will facilitate sharing of knowledge and expertise, as well as establish collaborative research and development projects. Under this MoU, we will also be able to facilitate exchanges of ideas and facilities, as well as industrial study visits of our students and staff, which is important for enhancing their learning experience and professional development. This will also enable us to gain insights into the industry, which is important because it will ensure our programmes remain relevant to the advances of the industry and improve our curriculum development.”

He added, “We are also thankful to Agilepoint Inc and RMAICT Sdn Bhd for the opportunity to allow our students to be attached to your company for industrial placements and study visits. This will be a good learning platform for our students to gain necessary real-life skills, experience and knowledge required for their employment later on.”

Lauding UTAR as a progressive university, both Shiah and Tiong said that they are honoured to be at the signing ceremony and look forward to exploring collaborations in the fields of Application Development, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, etc.

The ceremony reached its highlight with Prof Ewe, Shiah and Tiong signing and exchanging the MoU documents. Curtains were drawn after a group photograph and souvenir presentation session.
