As part of the university’s efforts to raise funds
for UTAR Hospital, UTAR Chancellery, Department of Alumni Relations &
Placement (DARP) and UTAR Alumni Associations organised the Mid-Autumn
Mooncake Charity Fundraising Sales for UTAR Hospital. The event saw the
sales of mooncakes comprising different flavours, supplied by Cherry
Cottage. United Overseas Bank (UOB) Asset Management Malaysia was among
those who generously purchased the mooncakes to support the UTAR Hospital
fundraising. As such, on 5 September 2022, a mooncake handover ceremony was
held at UTAR Sungai Long Campus to thank UOB Asset Management for their kind
generosity.
The ceremony was attended by UTAR President Ir Prof
Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, CEO of UOB Asset Management Ms Lim Suet Ling, UOB
Asset Management Head of Intermediary Sales Mr Thomas Lim Kuan Vin, UOB
Asset Management Head of Advisory Sales Ms Chen Wai Kee and Cherry Cottage
Representative Mr Ong Seng Kiat.
The mooncake handover ceremony kicked off with a
speech from Prof Ewe, who thanked Ms Lim, saying, “UTAR is indeed humbled to
receive your kindness and we are very thankful for your continuous efforts
in providing us with the necessary assistance. Once again, thank you Ms Lim
Suet Ling and UOB Asset Management for your generous support. I look forward
to having mutually beneficial collaborations in years to come.”

Ms Lim remarked, “We believe that UTAR Hospital will
provide a significant and essential service to the community. This project
will also bring training opportunities for all students in the medical
fields such as physiotherapy, nursing, pharmacy and Traditional Chinese
Medicine. All these are important as society is ageing and it will
definitely benefit Malaysia’s medical standards.”

The ceremony reached its peak with the handing over
of the mooncakes, presented by Prof Ewe to the three representatives. It
ended with a quick group photography session.
