The Public Bank (PB) Top Achiever Award Presentation
e-Ceremony, organised by UTAR Division of Examination and Awards (DEAS), was
held on 12 September 2022 to acknowledge and celebrate the recipients of the
PB Top Achiever Award. The award, which is given annually as part of PB-UTAR
partnership, saw a total of six winners from the Faculty of Accountancy and
Management (FAM) and the Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF). The award
winners were selected based on their CGPA results and soft skills points.
Held via Microsoft Teams, the ceremony was attended
by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Senior General Manager of
Human Capital Management Public Bank Malaysia Ms Mary Ng Poh Lyn, General
Manager Knowledge and Training Public Bank Malaysia Ms Jean Khoo Jing Min,
Deputy Director of Enterprise Banking, Wealth Management and Transaction
Banking Mr Dennis Lai Koah Vui, UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation
and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, UTAR Vice President for R&D
and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, and UTAR Vice
President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee
Keong. Other guests included Dean of FAM Dr Sia Bee Chuan, Dean of FBF Assoc
Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, and Dean of Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Dr
David Tneh Cheng Eng.
Prof Dato’ Ewe first gave a speech. Congratulating
the recipients, he said, “Let me take this opportunity to convey my deepest
congratulations to the six students from FAM and FBF for successfully
attaining this award. Bear in mind that this award is given to you as a
financial incentive and in recognition of your academic achievements. I hope
that by receiving this Public Bank award, you will be motivated to excel
further, be better and eventually make a positive contribution to society
and your workplace.”
Meanwhile, Mary Ng said, “We are proud to present and
like to congratulate all of you for successfully achieving this award. When
stepping out into the working world, you will experience a lot of tough
moments, sometimes even more than the smooth sailing moments. However, you
need to push through and adapt to the challenges you come across.”
The ceremony proceeded with the announcement of the
winners. The winners from FAM were Wong Ai Yin, Chung Siew Ying and Lim Qiao
Qing, all of whom got first, second and third place respectively. On the
other hand, Chong Kah Yee, Lew Xin Yi and Yap Qian Hua were the first,
second and third place recipients from FBF. The winners expressed their
gratitude and thanks to both UTAR and PB for the award.
