A group of
delegates from Fraser and Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N) visited UTAR Sungai Long
Campus on 31 March 2023 to build rapport and promote mutual understanding.
The visit was also made to discuss opportunities for future collaboration
between the two parties.
The F&N
delegates consisted of F&N Manufacturing, Group R&D and Procurement Senior
Director Dr Yap Peng Kang, F&N Group R&D Director Wong Tak Hiong, F&N
Agriculture and Dairy Farm Managing Director Lee Lay Yean, F&N Agriculture
and Dairy Farm Executive Rebecca Ooi Seok Lin and F&N Human Capital Manager
Sujeetha Subramaniam.
They were
welcomed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Division of
Community and International Networking (DCInterNet) Director Assoc Prof Dr
Lai Soon Onn and Department of Alumni Relations and Placement Senior
Assistant Manager Lee Wan Poh.
Meanwhile,
joining from Kampar Campus via video conference were Institute of
Postgraduate Studies and Research Deputy Director Prof Dr Sumathi
Sethupathi, Faculty of Science (FSc) Deputy Dean for Academic Development
and Undergraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Dr Gideon Khoo, FSc Head of BSc
(Hons) Dietetics Programme Muhammad Zulhusni bin Suhaimi, and FSc academics
Prof Dr Wong Hann Ling, Dr Kwong Phek Jin, Dr Loh Pek Chin, Dr Tey Lai Hock
and Sim Kheng Yuen.

The discussion
kicked off with the presentation of the UTAR corporate video to enhance the
delegates’ understanding of the overall development of the University. Prof
Dato’ Ewe, in his speech, said that there are plenty of areas in which UTAR
and F&N can work together. He looks forward to discussing them further on.
On the other hand, Dr Yap gave an introduction about F&N and its
developments, and expressed his willingness to create a long-term
relationship with UTAR. He also hopes to explore more areas of
collaboration. The meeting continued with a presentation on F&N AgriValley
Integrated Dairy Farm by Lee.
During the discussion
An in-depth
discussion was carried out between both parties, which promoted information
exchange. Among the possible areas of collaboration discussed were sharing
of expertise and joint development of research, industrial placement, staff
and student exchanges, academic development exchanges, etc.
After an
insightful discussion between the two parties, the visit ended with a
souvenir exchange and group photography session.
