We are very grateful for the great support and sponsorship from MagnumCares, the main sponsor of the Carnival. At the same time, we would like to thank Sin Chew Daily for the continuous support and wide publicity for our hospital fundraising events. This will be the first time for UTAR Hospital to raise funds through charity bazaars. We hope that more enthusiastic people can generously support, donate and sponsor the charity bazaar, as well as participate in the charity bazaar activities to enrich the Carnival.”
He added, “The UTAR Hospital project started in 2018. The journey, however, was not easy as we faced a lot of challenges due to the pandemic. But fortunately, with the support and generosity of all sectors of society, the hospital was successfully built. The UTAR T&CM Centre officially began operating in April last year. The Medical Centre has been completed and is expected to start operating around June this year. The estimated cost of the total development of the hospital is about RM330million and we are currently short of more than RM40million. Therefore, we sincerely hope that the members of the public will continue to support and donate to this beautiful initiative, so that UTAR Hospital can be fully operational as soon as possible.”
Tan emphasised, “The Chinese community formed by the Chinese newspapers, Chinese associations and Chinese education is very powerful. With the cooperation of like-minded business organisations such as MagnumCares, we hope that the Sin Chew Carnival can take place successfully, and continue to create a better future for the Chinese community. We are glad to have MagnumCares as the main sponsor of the Carnival; to provide a platform for UTAR Hospital to continue to raise funds as well as for the public to know more about the medical services provided by the UTAR Hospital. Once the UTAR Hospital is fully operational, it will benefit people from all over Malaysia. At the same time, it will also cultivate more medical talents for the community and further improve the country’s medical quality.”
The press conference ended with a hospital tour led by Prof Choong and UTAR Hospital staff.
There will be various exciting activities and events held during the two-day carnival. Among them are cultural performances, colouring competitions, health screening, charity stalls, food stalls, cultural exhibitions, student entrepreneurial areas, Kampar Majesty Ride Competition, and many more.
