Faculty of Creative Industries academic Dr Saraswathy
Thurairaj was recently invited to share her knowledge and expertise as a
resource speaker at the London School of Public Relations – Jakarta (LSPR) Institute Academic Forum with Malaysian Universities
on 7 November 2022 at Perdana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Organised by LSPR Communication and Business
Institute, Jakarta, the forum aimed to provide a platform for researchers to
exchange their knowledge and expertise, and establish a solid network with
each other for future research collaboration. The theme of the forum was
‘Higher Education Landscape in
Indonesia and Malaysia’.
Dr Saraswathy shared her research titled “Educational
change and societal impact of social innovation in higher education” at the
forum. She explained that her research aimed to study the impact of courses
offered that are aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) and social innovation on students’ perception in a private
university in Malaysia. She also explained that the purpose of her paper was
to evaluate the effects the courses have on students bringing a societal
impact, interacting with the community globally, and realising change in
attitudes towards higher education.

After the talk, the forum continued with a dinner,
certificate presentation, networking and photography sessions. Dr Saraswathy
was valued as one of the renowned speakers for her sharing at the forum. She
was honoured by the Founder and CEO of LSPR Institute of Communication and
Business, Dr (H.C.) Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR. She took home
certificates, gifts, and a cash reward. Moreover, she was presented with
many research collaboration opportunities with the LSPR Institute of
Communication and Business.
Dr Saraswathy shared, “It was truly an honour to have
received such recognition from renowned scholars from overseas institutions.
Their appreciation and acknowledgement have provided me with a great sense
of motivation and inspiration to continue conducting research that is both
insightful and resourceful. I am also deeply grateful for the guidance and
support that they and others have provided me along my research journey.
Once again, by being invited to speak at this forum, I am thrilled to know
that my knowledge and expertise have been recognised, and I hope that I can
continue to make meaningful contributions to the academic community.”

Dr Saraswathy also recently won third place in the
Table Topics Contest category at the Toastmasters International District 102
