UTAR Hospital Starts Operations

Overview of UTAR Hospital
The Hospital  Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR Hospital), located in UTAR Kampar Campus,  has commenced its western medical services on 1 August 2023. These services  include out-patient specialist services, health screening services and  in-patient services. The UTAR T&CM Centre commenced operations in April  2022, and now, the UTAR Hospital with western medicine services is open to the  public after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Health.
    
    On this  significant occasion, UTAR Chancellor Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, Toh Puan Ena Ling,  UTAR Education Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Sak Cheng  Lum, Puan Sri Irene Sak, UTAR Council Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Ting Chew  Peh, UTAR Board of Trustees Member and UTAR Hospital Board Member Datuk Lee  Leck Cheng, and UTAR President and UTAR Hospital Board Member Ir Prof Dato’ Dr  Ewe Hong Tat, visited the hospital to meet the hospital staff and the patients.  UTAR Hospital CEO and Hospital Board Member Prof Dr Lau Hui-Ping and his Deputy  Ms Maria Khong were present to welcome the guests. Also present were UTAR Vice  Presidents Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, UTAR Hospital  Board Member and Director of T&CM Centre Dr Te Kian Keong and UTAR staff.
    
    During the  visit, Prof Lau expressed his sincere appreciation to Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik,  Board members, Council members, donors and everyone for the unwavering support that  has helped to make the UTAR Hospital a reality.  
    
    Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe  was also appreciative of the trust, the generous support and contributions from  donors and the public who have enabled UTAR to kick start the construction of  the UTAR Hospital until its successful completion and start of operations. 
    
    At the visit, Tan  Sri Sak also mentioned that UTAR started 20 years ago by the effort of Tun Dr  Ling Liong Sik. He added that the push to build the hospital also came from  him. Today, the UTAR Hospital is open to the public. This long journey to set  up the hospital has been very meaningful for everyone, including the community.
    
    The group  visited various sections of UTAR Hospital to meet the doctors, nurses, staff,  patients and the public who were present.
    
  To thank the public and the community for  their support, UTAR Hospital organised a promotional health campaign which  offers free health screening services from 1 to 5 August 2023. Among the  services are free medical consultation, free mental health screening, free body  posture assessment, free health talks, free basic health tests, free low dose  CT scan chest screenings and free digital Chest X-ray screenings.  During this period, the public and patients  can walk-in for the free services and screenings on a first-come, first served  basis.
