UTAR and Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM)
signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 4
August 2023. The MoU aimed to foster idea exchanges and mutual visits for
research, curriculum development, and participation in industry-related
events. Besides, it was also aimed at facilitating industrial placements and
community engagement projects to enhance societal contributions.

Prof Dato’ Ewe giving his speech
Prof Dato’ Ewe welcomed the representatives from PUMM
and said, “This MoU is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering
academic growth among our students and communities. I would like to
acknowledge PUMM’s recent visit to our university on 30 June this year. The
interactions and discussions during that visit laid the foundation for the
fruitful partnership we celebrate today. Your keen interest and enthusiasm
in our institution are greatly appreciated.”
He added, “One of the key objectives of this MoU is
to initiate joint projects involving collaborative research and the sharing
of expertise. By pooling our resources and knowledge, we aim to drive
innovation, tackle complex challenges, and make meaningful contributions to
our respective fields.”
Mr Tan giving speech
Mr Tan said, “In joining forces, UTAR and PUMM forge
a path of meaningful collaboration aimed at advancing education, research,
and entrepreneurship in Malaysia. This MoU symbolises our commitment to
creating a strong foundation upon which our shared goals and objectives will
flourish.” He added, “Our focus extends beyond academic endeavours; it
embraces the development of our future leaders – UTAR’s undergraduate and
postgraduate students. Through industrial study visits and placements
facilitated by PUMM, we aim to provide them with invaluable real-world
experience, empowering them to thrive in their respective fields.”
The MoU was signed by Prof Dato’ Ewe and Mr Tan. The
signing was witnessed by Prof Goi and Mr Eric Lim. The signing ceremony
ended with a souvenir exchange and a group photography session.
