The UTAR STEM Outreach, Lee Kong Chian Faculty
of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) and M. Kandiah
Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MK FMHS) jointly organised the STEM Outreach programme for
252 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ 13 (SMK USJ 13) on 2
August 2023 at SMK USJ 13, Subang Jaya,
Selangor. The objective of the event was to stimulate secondary school
students’ interest towards STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics).
The programme involved several educational
activities such as Bridge Building Competition, Tower to the Moon, and
Invisible Life: How to make micro-organisms visible? The facilitators were
LKC FES academics, namely
Sr Nurhayatul Khursniah binti Hasim, Assoc
Prof Ir Dr Lim Jee Hock, Dr Woon Kai Siong, Specialist I Ir Ts Wong Chee
Fui; MK FMHS Master of Medical Science students Teo Han Yao and Lee Jian,
and Doctor of Philosophy (Medical Science) student Tan Soon Yan.
