UTAR TCM alumni enjoys success and promotes TCM

The founders and TCM practitioners at Xin TCM

Giving back to the university is what Xin Chinese Medical Hall (Xin TCM) has set out to do. The medical hall provides not only job opportunities; but also, opportunities for practical training for UTAR TCM students to work on weekends or during semester break, during which they follow the TCM qualified practitioners as they do consultation and treatment. The medical hall also provides employment to the graduates who are qualified for the job.

Among the UTAR TCM graduates working at Xin TCM is practitioner Ms Choong Hau Cheeng who had her practical training in China, and is doing very well at the medical hall, with her excellent bedside manners, methodical consultation, and experience and knowledge for TCM. The other experienced TCM practitioners are Lai Jee Sin, Tan Zi Yann and Ham Khai Mun, UTAR graduates who are well trained and knowledgeable.

There are UTAR TCM students who work part-time and on weekends at the medical hall, and there are many others who show up for practical training during their semester break.

XIN Chinese Medical Hall first started in Cheras in March 2022, followed by the Petaling Jaya branch which opened in May 2023. Xin TCM also collaborates with one modern Chinese Herbs centre in Puchong from September 2023. This provides more opportunities for students to learn and participate at the various medical halls.

Connie Shu is a UTAR TCM graduate and she is also one of the co-founders of XIN TCM. She enjoys her TCM work very much and she has great passion and empathy towards her work and her patients. During consultation, she listens and diagnoses the patients with great care and provide a suitable treatment plan accordingly.

She communicates well with her colleagues to create a good working environment. She is also very detail oriented in arranging the tasks and she is always positive so as to create an encouraging work environment. She believes in sharing her experience and knowledge with other students as well to promote TCM as a profession with good practitioners and to encourage more students into the profession. She said that TCM practitioners should not forget the true aspiration of a healthcare provider and this is most important.

UTAR is indeed proud to have trained such dedicated TCM practitioners.

Ms Connie Shu
