UTAR and Malaysia-China Industrial & Commerce
Association (MCICA) held a memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchange
ceremony at Sungai Long Campus on 7 December 2023.
The signatories of the MoU were UTAR President Ir
Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and MCICA President Mr Lu Fangzhi. However, Prof
Dato’ Ewe was represented by UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation
and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min at the event.
In line with the terms of the MoU, MCICA is committed
to advancing collaboration between UTAR and Chinese academic institutions.
Additionally, the two parties will also aim to promote initiatives that
facilitate student exchanges and contribute to the enhancement of academic
qualifications.
Prof Goi said, “Today marks the commencement of a
collaborative effort aimed at advancing higher education in both Malaysia
and China. In forging this partnership, we aspire to foster meaningful
cooperation and idea exchange with an array of universities and educational
institutions in China. This initiative aligns seamlessly with MCICA’s noble
mission of acting as a conduit for educational ties between the two nations.
Furthermore, we anticipate that this collaboration will not only broaden the
learning horizons of our students but also significantly contribute to
fortifying the bonds of friendship between Malaysia and China. Together, we
embark on a journey of shared knowledge, cultural understanding, and
academic excellence, fostering a robust foundation for the future.”

Mr Lu said, “As we approach the upcoming milestone of
the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia
next year, I am optimistic about the prospect of an increasing number of
collaborative projects between the two governments. It is imperative for us
to foster closer contact and engage in interactive visits, enhancing mutual
understanding and fostering the development of cooperation. This proactive
approach will undoubtedly contribute to the enduring nature of our
friendship. I extend my sincere appreciation to UTAR for their warm
reception, and I express my heartfelt wishes for UTAR to continue its
legacy, creating yet another chapter of success.”
