UTAR and Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management
and Technology (TAR UMT) have officially entered into agreements with the
Yayasan Prihatin Terengganu. The agreement signing ceremony took place at
TAR UMT on 8 December 2023. The purpose of signing these agreements is to
facilitate the provision of loans to students hailing from Terengganu who
are pursuing their studies at UTAR and TAR UMT.
The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr
Ewe Hong Tat, TAR UMT President Ir Prof Dr Lee Sze Wei and Yayasan Prihatin
Terengganu President Dato’ Toh Chin Yaw. The signing ceremony was witnessed
by Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) President YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka
Siong.
Under the agreement, Yayasan Prihatin Terengganu has
pledged a generous donation of RM200,000 to extend financial support to
deserving and underprivileged students. The recipients of this aid are
graduates from various secondary schools in Terengganu, as well as
individuals born in the region. The allocated funds are specifically
designated for covering tuition fees or any other approved expenses, as
determined by the Scholarships and Financial Aid Committee.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Members of
the Board of Governors Datuk Dr Pamela Yong, Yayasan Prihatin Terengganu
Treasurer Dato’ Koh Tat Kim, Yayasan Prihatin Terengganu Director Dato’ See
Meng Geok, TAR UMT Vice President Assoc Prof Dr Chook Ka Joo and UTAR
Department of Scholarships and Financial Aid Head Ms Tan Wear Sim.
