School engagement projects at SMJK Ayer Tawar and SMK Seri Kampar

With the objective of cultivating motivation, leadership, and teamwork among secondary school students, the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of UTAR Kampar Campus organised two impactful projects for the students of SMJK Ayer Tawar and SMK Seri Kampar.

On 22 November 2023, CFS Kampar Campus academic Ms Lim Chiew Gan inspired 40 Form Five students from SMJK Ayer Tawar with a motivational talk titled “How to Achieve Your Goals” at Ritz Garden Hotel Manjung. Ms Lim’s talk, enriched by vivid real-life cases and her personal journey, instilled a sense of purpose and determination in the minds of the students, equipping them with practical strategies for effective goal-setting and achieving success.

Student, Nicole Low shared, “I feel motivated to realise my goals after hearing this talk. Besides, The Butterfly Effect has left a deep impression on me, making me believe that small changes can result in significant differences.” Wong Jing Xi, another student, added, “I am very glad to have attended this talk. I am greatly inspired and learned that perseverance is the core of achieving success.”

Meanwhile, over at SMK Seri Kampar, another meaningful project unfolded on 25 November 2023. CFS Kampar Campus academic Ms Yuvashini Salvamani delivered an insightful Leadership Talk, captivating over 100 Form Three to Form Six students. Beyond sharing effective leadership qualities and emphasising the importance of leadership, Ms Yuvashini guided students in developing their leadership skills, complementing her sharing with interactive scenarios.

After the Leadership Talk, CFS Kampar Campus academics Mr Sree Amertharaj Ratnam, Ms Nur Fadhliana binti Ithnin, Ms Muniroh binti Salleh, Ms Sarah binti Shamshul Anwar, and Ms Noor Aina Farhana binti Zulkifli led a series of exciting team-building activities. These activities provided an avenue for students to hone their leadership potential and showcase teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. The students actively immersed themselves in the activities, with the winning groups receiving memorable prizes.

As the day concluded, positive feedback from students echoed the success of the project, with many expressing gratitude for the holistic learning experience that fostered their teamwork and leadership capabilities.
