UTAR and Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad sign MoU

The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between UTAR and the Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (Alliance Bank) was held on 7 December 2023 at Sungai Long Campus. The MoU aimed to foster collaborative research, knowledge exchange, joint development, and educational initiatives, including staff exchanges, industrial study visits, recruitment opportunities for students, and community engagement to enhance societal contribution.

The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Alliance Bank Performance, Rewards and Talent Management Head Ms Tan Mui Sim while the witnesses were UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min and Alliance Bank Talent Acquisition Head Mr See Yap Siang.

Other Alliance Bank representatives present at the event were Talent Acquisition Assistant Vice Presidents Ms Ken-Ann Seroop Singh and Mr Anthony Lim, Talent Acquisition Managers Ms Michelle Yap and Ms Kelly Kok, and staff.

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “With this MoU, UTAR’s Faculty of Business and Finance and the Alliance Bank will officially begin the strategic partnership to initiate joint projects, mutual visitations, industrial placement opportunities, curriculum development, et cetera. The MoU will enable us to work even more closely in creating platforms which will enrich both staff and students’ academic experience and industrial exposure, as well as empower them to explore learning opportunities beyond the classrooms.”

Ms Tan said, “At Alliance Bank we understand that the bank is more than just products, transactions and mathematics; it is about serving people’s needs and goals. It is not just about having a vacancy and filling it up, but it is also about recognising our partners as unique individuals with different emotions and needs. Therefore, this partnership is about serving the needs of the students and the university, which aligns with our bank’s new brand purpose ‘The Bank for Life’. This initiative reflects our commitment towards our workforce. We would like to express our gratitude to UTAR for believing in our vision and joining hands with us today to make this collaboration a reality.”
