DRB HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia visits UTAR

Delegates from DRB HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (DRB-HICOM U) visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 30 January 2023.

The delegates were led by Vice Chancellor and CEO of DRB-HICOM U Prof Dato’ Sr Dr Haji Omar Haji Osman. Accompanying him were Institute of Academics for Engineering Senior Dean Dr Ong Huei Ruey, UMC and Business Development Head Dr Hafizul Othman, TVET Institute Senior Head Ts Mohd Azam Musa, Business Development Ts Mohamad Hizam Hashim.

On hand to receive them were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abdul Rahman, Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Dean Ir Prof Dr Ng Choon Aun, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology Dean Prof Ts Dr Liew Soung Yue, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Yap Wun She, Division of Community and International Networking (DCInterNet) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research Director Assoc Prof Dr Yong Thian Khok, FEGT Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Ir Ts Dr Leong Kah Hon, FEGT Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes Dr Lo Po Kim, FEGT Department of Industrial Engineering Head Dr Khoo Sze Wei, LKC FES Department of Mechanical and Material Engineering Head Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yeo Wei Hong, LKC FES Department of Mechatronics and BioMedical Engineering Head Dr Goh Choon Hian, and DCInterNet Manager Furnny Ong.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss future collaborations in the areas of research and development, especially in the Automotive field. The visit was also made to discuss student exchange programmes, which strive to enable students to experience different cultures and perspectives, new traditions and customs, besides creating an opportunity to meet up with new people. On top of that, other items that were also brought up during the meeting discussion were OSH Conference and Seminar, student competitions, and R&D.

The meeting ended with a souvenir exchange and a group photography session between both parties.
