DPP visits secondary schools in Sarawak

UTAR Division of Programme Promotion (DPP) made a trip to Sarawak, East Malaysia from 10 to 12 January 2023. The team visited a total of seven secondary schools to strengthen relationships with the schools in East Malaysia.

Serian Public Secondary School, Sarawak

DPP visited Serian Public Secondary School, Sarawak on 10 January 2023. The team was welcomed by Serian Public Secondary School, Sarawak Principal Huang Ping. DPP was honoured to receive an invitation from Huang to give a talk to introduce the programmes and scholarships offered by UTAR to the school’s Form 6 students. The students were delighted as they were better equipped with information before stepping into the next phase of life.

Chung Hua Middle School No. 4, Kuching

DPP made a stop at Chung Hua Middle School No. 4, Kuching on 10 January 2023. The team was welcomed by Chung Hua Middle School No. 4, Kuching Principal Kon Shing Yong. During the visit, DPP Assistant Manager Chin Yuon Loong gave an insightful talk about UTAR’s structure and programmes to the school’s Form 5 and Form 6 students. Moreover, UTAR and Chung Hua Middle School No. 4 alumna Lelia Myriam Bong Siu Mien was invited to share her past study experience at UTAR Kampar Campus with her fellow juniors.

Catholic High School, Sibu

DPP visited Catholic High School, Sibu on 12 January 2023. During the visit, DPP Assistant Manager Chin gave a talk to the school’s Form 3, Form 5 and Form 6 students to promote UTAR’s structure and programmes. UTAR and Catholic High School alumnus Nick Wong was also present at the school to share his study experience with his juniors

Wong Nai Siong Secondary School, Sibu

DPP visited Wong Nai Siong Secondary School, Sibu on 12 January 2023. With the arrangement and support of Wong Nai Siong Secondary School, Sibu Principal Lu Yew Hiiung and Counsellor Wong Ling Yann, UTAR successfully set up a booth and organised a talk session for the school’s Form 5 and Form 6 students to promote UTAR’s programmes. Wong Nai Siong Secondary School, Sibu teachers Watson Lau Lik Tiew, Moh Wen Kai, Ling Fa Long, Chong Si Hui and Hii Yan Jun, who are also UTAR alumni, were present at the talk session to provide their valuable inputs.

Citizen Middle School, Sibu

DPP made a visitation to Citizen Middle School, Sibu on 12 January 2023. The team was welcomed by Citizen Middle School, Sibu Principal Ling Mei Shieh. DPP explained the programmes and scholarships offered by UTAR to the school. Both parties also discussed potential collaborations in the future.

Kiang Hin Middle School, Sibu

DPP paid a visit to Kiang Hin Middle School, Sibu on 12 January 2023. The team was given a warm welcome by Kiang Hin Middle School, Sibu Principal Tang Siong Sing, Vice Principal Teng Mee Teck and Counsellor Yii Sii Chiew. Both parties had an insightful exchange on potential collaboration.

Guong Ming Middle School, Sibu

For the last stop, DPP paid a visit to Guong Ming Middle School, Sibu on 12 January 2023. They were welcomed by the school’s Counsellor Janis Tiong. DPP shared the programmes and scholarships offered by UTAR to the school.  Overall, both parties had a great discussion session.
