NCT Alliance Berhad donates to UTAR Hospital

UTAR thanks NCT Alliance Berhad for the donation of RM50,000 to UTAR Education Foundation, which will benefit the UTAR Hospital. A mock cheque presentation ceremony was held on 31 January 2023 at Wisma MCA, Ampang.

Receiving the mock cheque on behalf of UTAR was its President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat. Presenting the mock cheque was NCT Alliance Group Executive Director Dato’ Yap Fook Choy, who represented NCT Alliance Chairman and Group Managing Director Dato’ Sri Yap Ngan Choy. The ceremony was witnessed by Malaysian Chinese Association President Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The contribution, which was part of NCT Alliance’s corporate social responsibility initiative, is aimed at facilitating the upgrading of the hospital’s facilities and equipment so that Malaysians are provided with quality and affordable medical and health services.

Datuk Seri Wee said, “There’s no doubt that healthcare is one of the most important aspects of any society. High-quality healthcare helps prevent diseases and improve quality of life. To focus on best practices and train and graduate doctors of high calibre, setting up UTAR Hospital is the right decision as it will train students and staff on the latest medical technologies and procedures to provide the best medical care for patients in the community. I sincerely appreciate the support of people from all walks of life for their financial support to UTAR Hospital.”

Prof Dato’ Ewe said, “UTAR Hospital is part of UTAR’s development and progress as a private institution for the people by the people. UTAR Hospital will be a not-for-profit private hospital offering people affordable and high-quality medical care. Additionally, this hospital will train and educate medical students and carry out research to advance healthcare and medicine. We started operating the T&CM Centre in April 2022 and we have received over 15,000 visits as of December 2022.”

Also present at the ceremony were VTAR Institute CEO Tan Cheng Liang, UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science Dean Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She and NCT Alliance Berhad staff.
