20Meter of wishes for UTAR 20th Anniversary

Everyone wishing UTAR more successes to come

A showcase of the 20-metre-long wish card was organised by the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) Kampar on 21 December 2022 at UTAR Kampar Campus. The showcase aimed to celebrate UTAR’s 20th anniversary as the year ends and inculcate community spirit among staff and students.

Organising Chairperson Chan Wan Ling, enthused, “We have planned a series of events to celebrate UTAR 20th Anniversary under CFS Kampar. Most of the events involved fundraising for UEF and UTAR Hospital, and we managed to raise a total of RM13,891 in total throughout the year. Now as we move toward the end of the year, we were thinking of conducting one more event to end the celebration, and we thought it would be very meaningful to prepare a 20-metre-long wish card to UTAR, and invite all UTARians, staff and students to join in the fun. Since Chinese New Year is also drawing near, we decided to use Chinese red calligraphy paper to make the card, so it has more celebrative elements in one event.”
The showcase was attended by CFS Kampar Director Ts Tan Lee Siew, Deputy Director for Student Affairs and Development Lim Khiew Loon, Deputy Director for Academic Phang Ying Ning, Department of Science and Engineering Head Ooi Siew Fong, Department of Arts and Social Science Head Pakialetchumy Antoni, and Department of Management and Accountancy Head Tsen Tzu Yee.
Tan commented, “The 20th anniversary is definitely a momentous milestone that we are proud to celebrate. It signifies the remarkable journey of UTAR in these two decades, and it also celebrates the unity of the people, and its effort in providing quality and affordable education to the community. I hope UTAR will continue to soar to greater heights.”

The showcase saw the staff from CFS penning down their wishes on the last section of the card, which was later combined to make it the ultimate 20-metre-long wish card for UTAR’s 20th anniversary. Student performers also shared their joy by performing three songs before the showcase ended. The 20-metre-long wish card was later relocated to the front of the building and placed above the lecturers’ room, to make it visible from the outside.
