UTAR STEM Outreach organised
Program Minda Sihat dan Kerjaya STEM
for 233 students at SJK(C) Chung Hua Port Dickson on 13 June 2023. The
programme aimed to promote primary school students’ interest towards STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
A total of six sessions, involving various hands-on
and educational activities, were conducted for the students. The sessions
included an introduction to the robotic arm and an introduction to Chemistry
elements. It also included the application of Biology in daily life where
students were given a chance to try their hands at making cheese and
yoghurt. Last but not least, the Little Steps to Better Health session
consisted of activities such as first-aid bandaging workshop, HIV and HPV
talks, and anti-bullying talk.
The students were able to learn about the robotic arm
in detail at the robotic arm workshop. At the first-aid bandaging workshop,
students were taught the correct use of triangular bandage cloth to protect
themselves against wounds and infections.
Overall,
Program Minda Sihat dan Kerjaya STEM gave students the opportunity to
further explore the fields related to STEM. They all gained valuable
knowledge and meaningful hands-on experience through the activities and
workshops on that day.
