The meeting brought together esteemed representatives from both
institutions, including UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and
EUROCHAM Malaysia CEO Sven Schneider, to discuss strategic initiatives and
forge a path of fruitful cooperation. Together, the meeting was joined by
EUROCHAM Education Committee Deputy Head Andrew Chong, UTAR Centre for
Railway Infrastructure and Engineering (CRIE) Chairperson Assoc Prof Ir Dr
Chua Kein Huat and CRIE Secretary Dr Ong Chuan Fang.
One of the primary outcomes of this collaboration is the facilitation of
courses, seminars, and various activities aimed at empowering participants
to navigate the intricacies of dealing with the Malaysian government in the
context of business operations. This joint effort between UTAR and EUROCHAM
Malaysia will equip individuals with the necessary knowledge and tools to
effectively engage with the government, ensuring compliance with regulations
and promoting smoother business operations.
Recognising the immense potential in the European market, UTAR and EUROCHAM
Malaysia have also committed to organising a forum that shed light on
business opportunities and the requirements for entry into Europe. In
particular, this forum will emphasise the sustainability aspect, with a
spotlight on the Europe Green Deal and Carbon Tax. Participants will gain
insights into sustainable practices and learn how to align their businesses
with the ambitious goals outlined in the Europe Green Deal and Carbon Tax,
thereby positioning themselves for success in the European market.
Meeting in progress
Understanding the business landscape of China is another critical objective
outlined during the collaboration meeting. UTAR and EUROCHAM Malaysia are
dedicated to providing courses and activities that enable businesses to
grasp the intricacies of the Chinese market. UTAR has a dedicated research
centre, “Belt and Road Strategic Research Centre”, which focuses on the R&D
aspect. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Chinese
business practices, cultural nuances, and regulatory frameworks. Armed with
this knowledge, one can confidently explore opportunities and establish a
strong presence in one of the world’s largest economies.
As a testament to the successful collaboration between UTAR and EUROCHAM
Malaysia, both institutions have agreed to consider the plausibility to
establish an award programme. These awards will be bestowed upon companies
that have demonstrated exemplary performance and innovation in specific
fields. The recognition conferred through these awards will not only serve
as a source of pride for the recipients but also symbolise the mutual
appreciation and recognition of the collaborative efforts between UTAR and
EUROCHAM Malaysia.
The collaboration meeting between UTAR and EUROCHAM Malaysia marks a
significant milestone in fostering stronger ties between academia and
industry, while also promoting international business growth. By leveraging
the combined expertise and resources of both institutions, UTAR and EUROCHAM
Malaysia are poised to create an environment conducive to sustainable
economic development, empowering businesses to thrive in the ever-evolving
global marketplace.
