The Department of Student Affairs (DSA) of Sungai Long Campus organised
the Clubs and Societies Recruitment Drive from 4 to 6 July 2023 at the
Multipurpose Hall of UTAR Sungai Long Campus. A total of 61 clubs and
societies were present at the hall to recruit new members.
Among the clubs and societies were Accounting Society, Actuarial Science
Society, Built Environment Society, Chinese Medicine Society, Corporate
Communication Society, Early Childhood Studies Society, Global Economics
Society, Graphic Design and Multimedia Society, International Business
Society, Architecture Society, Media and Digital Animation Society,
Physiotherapy Society, IEM Student Section, ICE Student Chapter, IChemE
Student Chapter, IEEE Student Chapter, IMechE UTAR Student Chapter, IET
Student Chapter, EMB Student Chapter, Engineering Society, Finance Society,
Photography Society, Robotics Society, Finance and Investment Society,
Crime Prevention Society, Drama and
Public Speaking Society, Catholic Students Society, Christian Fellowship
Society, Buddhist Society, Hindu Society, Chinese Language Society, Building
and Property Management Society, International Friendship Society,
Mathematics Society, First Aid Society, Arts and Crafts Society, Community
Service Society, Broadcasting Society, Astronomy Club, Toastmasters Club,
Dance Club, Film Club, Music Club, Board Games Club, Sustainability
Development Club, Baking and Cooking Club, Career Development Club,
Karate-do Club, Japanese Culture Club, Hapkido Club, Taekwondo Club, Skate &
Roller Club, ASHRAE UTAR Student Branch, MBOT, E-Sport & Games Development,
Traveler’s Den, Chinese Orchestra Unit, Choir Unit, Wushu Club, 24 Festive
Drums Unit, and Makers Club.
Alongside the recruitment, a lot of other fun activities were also
carried out. On 5 July 2023, there were a series of performances from the
Diabolo team, the Choir unit, 24 Festive Drums, the Music Club and the
Chinese Orchestra unit. The aim of the performances was to allow students to
know more about the clubs and societies and if they enjoyed it, they can be
part of that club or society in the future. The crowd was thrilled by the
wonderful performances.

On 6 July 2023, UTAR was visited by two internet celebrities, namely Kuan
and Glenn Yong. During the visit, both celebrities performed a song and
invited students onto the stage to dance together. Besides that, they also
conducted a Q&A session for audiences to know more about them. The visit by
the two internet celebrities ended with a group photo session. There were
also performances by the Karatedo Club, Dance Club, and Wushu Club.

The wonderful performances by the clubs and societies provided students
with a good preview of what they will be getting if they joined the club or
society. Overall the Recruitment Drive event served as a good exposure to
aid students in their selection and decision-making process.
