He said, “Many people have called us regarding the Carnival’s donation methods, activities, purchase of coupons and booths after reading the news published in Sin Chew Daily. I hope that the popularity and the influence of the Carnival will be further expanded through today’s special showcase.”

He also introduced the highlights of the Carnival, which included the international cultural exchange booth, a collaboration with UTAR international students; the “Japanese Summer Festival” by UTAR Japanese interns and students, and the Xu Yang (旭飏) Concert by UTAR Kampar Chinese Orchestra Unit, to name a few.

Tan explaining that this would be the first effort to organise this carnival at a tertiary institution

Tan said, “In the past three years, Sin Chew Daily has organised three charity shows for UTAR Hospital, and successfully raised more than RM10million. This time we will continue to raise funds for the T&CM Centre and Medical Centre through the Carnival to provide comprehensive teaching facilities for medical students, and at the same time to benefit the people through affordable healthcare services.”

He added, “Sin Chew Carnival has never been held in a tertiary institution, and it is special because this Carnival will be a joint work between UTAR students and staff. I believe that with the creativity and innovation of students, the Carnival will usher in new elements and more vitality.”
