Adventure for Inbound Students from Kampar Campus at Penang

Seventeen students from UTAR Kampar Campus participated in the Inbound Student Exchange Programme on 15 July 2023 as they explored notable landmarks in Penang. The aim of the trip was to provide the students with an opportunity to engage with the local culture, and experience the attractions the city has to offer. The students were accompanied by Centre for Extension Education (CEE) Student Exchange Programme (SEP) Inbound coordinators, Chee Cheng Jin and Choong Pik Sin.

Their first destination was George Town Street Art, known for its captivating murals created by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic in 2012. The students were enthralled by the intricate details and stories conveyed through these artistic masterpieces. This immersive experience provided them with valuable insights into the local way of life, and fostered a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance of street art.

Subsequently, the group proceeded to Kek Lok Si Temple, nestled in Air Itam. The students had the privilege of ascending to the temple via a cable car ride, where they were rewarded with a breath-taking panoramic view of George Town and its surrounding landscape.

Concluding the day’s itinerary, the students made their way to Queensbay Mall, a prominent shopping destination in Penang. Here, they had the opportunity to engage in leisure activities, enjoy a relaxing tea time, and procure everyday essentials.

This day trip left an indelible mark on the Inbound Student Exchange Programme participants, as it allowed them to forge cherished memories, and deepen their understanding of Penang’s cultural heritage. The experience proved instrumental in fostering cultural exchange, and provided a platform for students to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Penang’s history and contemporary allure.
