MoU with Lumut Port sealed
An inaugural memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between UTAR and Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd (Lumut Port) on 21 June 2023 at Kampar Campus.
Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Lumut Port Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Hj Mubarak Ali bin Gulam Rasul. The signing ceremony was witnessed by UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong and Lumut Port Human Capital and Development Manager Rafidah binti Shamsudin. Also present at the signing ceremony were guests from Lumut Port, namely General Manager Hj Mohd Rusly bin Tamsir, General Manager for Corporate Services Mohd Hidayatullah bin Mohamed Yusof, Corporate Communication Senior Manager Hayrol Aziz bin Ahmad, Legal & Compliance Assistant Manager Nurulhuda binti Md Isa, Corporate Communication Senior Executive Ahmad Yuzrizal bin Mohd Jalani, Executive Secretary Roslawati binti Shaari, Human Capital and Development Executive Isfarudin bin Markum, and Human Capital and Development Admin Assistant Mohd Rahmadan bin Baharin.
They were welcomed by Faculty of Science (FSc) Dean Assoc Prof Dr Lim Tuck Meng, FSc Department of Physical and Mathematical Science Head Assoc Prof Ts Dr Lam Weng Hoe, FSc academics Ts Dr Mohd Azam bin Din and Gs Ts Khairul Rizuan bin Suliman, Division of Community and International Networking Deputy Director Dr Chen, I-Chi and UTAR staff.
Welcoming Lumut Port into UTAR’s MoU fraternity which spanned across educational institutions as well as industry players based locally and internationally, Prof Dato’ Ewe added that the collaborative initiatives explored through the MoU will be mutually beneficial to both parties. “With this MoU, UTAR’s Faculty of Science (FSc) and Lumut Port will officially begin the strategic partnership to initiate joint R&D projects, mutual visitations, industrial placement opportunities, curriculum development, et cetera in the fields of logistics, maritime, port operation, transportation and supply chains management as well as international shipping. I strongly believe that this MoU will pave the way for a rewarding journey for both UTAR and Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd.”
Meanwhile, Dato’ Hj Mubarak said, “I’m honoured to be at this signing ceremony. I also look forward to working with UTAR in bridging the gap between the university and the industry.”
The ceremony reached its highlight with Prof Dato’ Ewe and Dato’ Hj Mubarak signing and exchanging the MoU documents. Curtains were drawn after a group photograph and a souvenir presentation session.
