UTAR Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus recently organised a talk and a workshop for secondary school students in Lumut and Teluk Intan as part of the Centre’s school engagement projects.

Aimed at helping students to understand the practice of controlling distractions and maximising their focus, the talk titled “The Power of Focus” took place on 15 February 2023 at SMJK Dindings in Lumut, Perak. CFS Kampar Campus academic P. Bhargkavi delivered the talk.  She shared practical tips and insights on the significance of focus in achieving goals. The talk received positive feedback from the students. They were excited to learn the concentration techniques and actively participated in the talk.

Meanwhile, on 16 February 2023, CFS academics Kow Li Fen and Ho Wai Yew conducted a workshop titled “How to play to your strength” at SMJK San Min in Teluk Intan, Perak. The goal of the workshop was to help students identify their unique talents and leverage their strengths for personal growth. Kow explained ways to uncover and utilise strengths and enlightened the students about psychology. This was followed by an interactive game session facilitated by Ho. The students were engaged and attentive throughout the workshop.

Overall, both school engagement projects were well-received. The students cited that the talk was useful and helped them gain valuable insights. They also reported that the workshop enabled them to gain a deeper understanding of their strengths and how to use them to achieve their goals.
