A group of 14 international students took part in a short excursion
to visit a few of Kuala Lumpur’s iconic attraction spots on 18 February
2023. The students visited Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur
Tower, Petronas Twin Towers @ KLCC, and One Utama shopping mall. They were
accompanied by Centre for Extension Education
(CEE) Student Exchange Programme (SEP) Inbound Coordinators Sindy Choong and
Alvis Chan.
The day trip started early as they headed to Batu Caves, an intricate
limestone cave which serves as a symbolic cultural and religious site for
the Hindu people in Malaysia, particularly during the annual celebration of
Thaipusam and Deepavali festivals. All students experienced the climb of 272
steps to the upper part of the cave to enjoy the breathtaking view of the
city skyline.
The trip was followed by a tour of Kuala Lumpur Tower, one of the tallest
freestanding towers in the world. The inbound students were thrilled to be
able to ride the elevator to the observation deck, located at a height of
276 metres above the ground to capture the beautiful scenic views.
After spending some time at the Kuala Lumpur Tower, the next destination was
none other than the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), where the
students were able to enjoy a stroll around the beautiful park surrounding
the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. At the same time, the Inbound Student
Exchange Programme students decided to have their lunch at KLCC and took
advantage of the opportunity to immerse themselves in Malaysian culture.
Apart from that, the student also visited One Utama shopping mall to
purchase groceries and household items to bring back to their home country.
Overall, the day trip was a
huge success and the Inbound Student Exchange Programme students left with
lasting memories of their time in Kuala Lumpur as they learn and grow and at
the same time have fun in Malaysia.
