SIRIM conducted the ISO 9001: 2015 Surveillance Audit for UTAR Division of Finance (DFN) and M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MK FMHS) on 23 and 24 February 2023 at Sungai Long Campus.

Welcoming the delegates at the
opening meeting were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof
Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman and ISO Management Review Committee Members,
which was consisted of Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic
Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, MK FMHS Deputy Dean for Student
Development and Industrial Training Assoc Prof Dr Leong Pooi Pooi
representing MK FMHS Dean Academician Emeritus Prof Dr Cheong Soon Keng,
Registrar Loh Siaw Yien, DFN Director Loh Lee Mooi, Division of Human
Resource (DHR) Director Marchie Lim Pin Sim, Division of Academic Quality
Assurance and Audit (DQAA) Dean Ir Prof Dr Rajkumar Durairaj, and Division
of Strategy and Performance Measurement (DSPM) Senior Manager Dr Yue Jing
Wen representing DSPM Director Prof Dr Zuraidah binti Abd Manaf.
Also present were DQAA Department
of Internal Audit Head Tang Woon Siew, DQAA Assistant Managers Muhammad
Faris and Najihah Jaafar, MK FMHS Deputy Dean for Academic Development and
Undergraduate Programmes, MK FMHS Department of Pre-Clinical Sciences Head
Assoc Prof Dr Ong Hooi Tin, MK FMHS Senior Assistant Manager Goh Siew Yoke
and DFN Senior Assistant Manager Dhen Siew Ping. They were also joined by
other MK FMHS and DFN staff, and heads of departments of support departments
via Microsoft Teams.
The meeting began with a welcome
speech by Prof Faidz, who welcomed the auditors on behalf of UTAR. It was
followed by the presentation of UTAR’s corporate video to give the auditors
a quick introduction about UTAR as well as its development. Next, Prof
Rajkumar was invited to give a brief about the changes made to the Quality
Management System since the previous audit.
UTAR received the ISO9001:2015
certification from SIRIM on 7 May 2018 for the provision of medical and
health sciences educational services for undergraduate levels and the
provision of financial management services. As part of the requirement, a
recertification audit is conducted by SIRIM every three years. In addition,
a yearly surveillance audit is also conducted by SIRIM.
