Sungai Long Staff Open Badminton Championship by USSRC

The inaugural Sungai Long Staff Open Badminton Championship, organised by the UTAR Staff Sports and Recreation Club (USSRC), was held on 11 March 2023 at Sportizza Badminton – Home of Sport (Balakong). The tournament aimed to build friendships and promote sportsmanship among UTAR staff.

The tournament was split into two categories, namely the Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The Men’s Doubles category had a total of 16 participants, who were separated into eight teams while the Mixed Doubles category had a total of six participants, divided into three teams. The winners, first runners-up and second runners-up from both categories were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Meanwhile, all the participants received armbands and badminton strings as participatory prizes. The tournament also followed a custom round-robin format, where the teams were placed in different groups to compete against other teams in their own group. The best team from each group would then play against each other in the elimination rounds.
