Enjoying gardening session with senior citizens at TTDI The Edible Community Garden

A group of volunteers from UTAR had another gardening session with the senior citizens of TTDI The Edible Community Garden on 18 February 2023. The volunteers consisted of 14 students and one staff. They were warmly welcomed by TTDI The Edible Community Garden Chairperson Margaret and Garden Manager Kernail. Also present among the volunteers was Faculty of Creative Industries Dean Dr David Tneh Cheng Eng.

Although it was a small group of volunteers, the day was well spent with four hours of gardening. UTAR volunteers had the opportunity to try their hands at gardening, composting, cleaning and weeding as well as maintaining the garden. They also assisted the community members to sell various vegetables and local fruits to visitors on that day.

Throughout the event, the volunteers had chances to see a variety of wildflowers, fresh fruits vegetables, and even weeds. The gardening activity at TTDI The Edible Community Garden was entertaining for the staff and students. It provided them with a valuable learning experience.
