The visit by UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min to Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg University on 20 February 2023 was warmly welcomed by Academic Advisor for Master of Electrical and Microsystems Engineering Prof Rupert Schreiner, Chairman of the Examination Committee for Master Electrical and Microsystems Engineering Prof Thomas Fuhrmann, and staff Gudrun Seebauer.

The visit to OTH Regensburg University unlocked opportunities for both educational institutions to explore potential collaborations in staff and student mobility; industry-academia dialogue; virtual joint seminars for research matching; joint teaching/research labs; international collaboration forum; cooperative education; and student competition. Apart from visiting the Faculty of Applied Natural & Cultural Sciences Lab and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Lab, Prof Goi also went on a Regensburg City Tour, which enabled him to learn about the city’s lifestyle and the common places visited by UTAR students during their exchange programme at OTH Regensburg University. Prof Goi was accompanied by Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology Academic Assoc Prof Dr Yamuna Munusamy, who was there to conduct a two-week training programme for OTH Regensburg University students.

During his visit, Prof Goi also provided updates and progress of the three students from OTH Regensburg University, who has begun their master’s degree programme in January 2023 in the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT), under the Dual Degree Programme. The programme, which started in 2014, is a collaboration between FEGT, OTH Regensburg University, and industry, in particular, Infineon at Regensburg, Germany and Infineon at Kulim, Malaysia. Under this programme, students are able to learn industrial practices. To date, 18 UTAR students and 26 German students have graduated from this Dual Degree Programme.
